WASHINGTON, DC April 15 – Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure (ABC2), the leading venture philanthropy nonprofit dedicated to brain tumor research in the United States, has appointed Kathleen Norton as its new Vice President of Strategic Partnerships.

ABC2’s Chief Executive Officer, Max Wallace said the appointment of a VP of Strategic Partnerships reflected the investment the venture philanthropy is making to ramp up major gifts and strategic partnerships to support its new personalized medicine project.

“We’re thrilled to have someone of Kathleen’s calibre spearhead our development efforts,” he said. “We are creating a first-of-its-kind molecular profiling project for brain cancer patients that requires significant support from committed investors. Kathleen is central to our strategy to deliver this.”

Kathleen is based out of Phoenix, AZ. She brings a wealth of major and corporate gift development experience. During her career, she has raised millions of dollars for high-profile cultural, academic and scientific institutions in the state of Arizona.

Prior to ABC2, Kathleen served as Vice President of Fund Development and Community Relations for Barrow Neurological Institute and St. Joseph's Hospital. She launched the International and VIP Program at Barrow and raised over $12 million to build and develop the Fulton ALS Center, the ALS Research Center and an endowed Chair in ALS and Motor-Neuron Disease. In addition, Kathleen executed the first venture philanthropy gift to the hospital, funding a spine disc regeneration research lab. Prior to Barrow, Kathleen was Development Director of Principal Gifts for Arizona State University. She worked closely with ASU President Michael Crow, professors and research scientists. Kathleen was also the Director of Major and Corporate Gifts at The Phoenix Symphony.

Kathleen has a M.Ed. from the State University of New York and a B.S. Ed. from Kent State University.
