Volunteer All-Star: Stacy Thomson

Stacy's marketing savvy and passion for the cause puts ABC2 in the charity spotlight on Aol.com.

If you were one of the 44 million people browsing the internet on AOL earlier this month, you had the chance to see ABC2 featured on AOL's homepage.  It was a tremendous way to raise brain tumor awareness and we thank ABC2 volunteer Stacy Thomson for making it happen!

Stacy has been a good friend to ABC2 through the years.  She connected with ABC2 because her family is affected by brain tumor disease.  She understands the critical need for more research and wanted to help.  "Having the ability to do anything to support brain cancer research is an honor," says Stacy.  "I've watched the battle my brother has gone through and admired his courage and my family's support as we've all been challenged in so many ways."

Stacy found a way to support ABC2 through her company.  When AOL approached her company about sponsoring a charity for their Daily Impact Module, Stacy jumped at the chance to profile ABC2.  ABC2 was featured for three days on AOL's homepage and is now permanently part of the AOL Impact program that shines a light on hundreds of non-profits and the advertisers that support them.

Stacy expresses the feelings of many family members and friends of loved ones who are facing a brain tumor diagnosis.  "I've often struggled to feel I've done my part or that I could do my part...I couldn't change it (the brain tumor), I couldn't take it away and those are the only things I wanted more than anything to do," says Stacy.  "Somehow life brought me to people just like me who were doing their part; they were giving back. That's when I realized I had power.  Brain cancer research is something I can change; it is what I can give and it can mean life for so many. I now feel I can do my part and, just like all the strong patients and families I admire, I'm not giving up. Thank you ABC2 for all that you do."

Thank you Stacy Thomson - a true volunteer all-star!
