ABC² Statement on Senator John McCain's Brain Cancer Diagnosis

July 20, 2017

ABC2 and our community of brain cancer patients, researchers and caregivers are saddened to learn about Senator John McCain’s brain cancer diagnosis. We know he will tackle this latest challenge with the same courage and resolve he has shown throughout his life. We wish Senator McCain the best as he and his family work with his medical team to determine the best treatment options.

Senator McCain is one of 12,000 people in the United States who will be diagnosed with this aggressive form of brain cancer – a glioblastoma multiforme. The median life expectancy of someone with glioblastoma is only about 18 months.

At ABC2, we are relentless in our search for the critical brain cancer breakthroughs that will lead to cures. Since our founding in 2001, ABC² has had a material hand in bringing 30 treatments into clinical trials. We are working with researchers on the most promising experimental treatments available to glioblastoma patients, including personalized brain cancer vaccines.
